Hey ya’ll,

I’m late with this but Tuesday, May 25 was officially Africa Day. While checking in on the lovely Afolicious blog I was fortunate enough to get schooled on Africa Day:

According to Wikipedia  Africa Day “is the annual commemoration on May 25 of the 1963 founding of the Organisation of African Unity.” This year, according to representatives of the Africa Union, Africa Day is a day to focus on peace and security.

Spread the word y’all!

Africans Break it Down

It’s funny because the video caption states that “Breakdance Project Uganda is an organization teaching the kids of Uganda how to, well, breakdance,” but after viewing this video, it seems that it’s quite the contrary – the young people of Uganda are teaching us! With so much ease and grace these folks look like they came out the womb breakdancing.

Trailer: Babies

My sister emailed me yesterday to see if I wanted to go with her to watch the documentary Babies. The opening to the trailer is ridiculously cute! My sister and I used to babysit a baby boy whose parents lived next door to us. . .that was a pain in the butt because all he knew how to do was cry and as he got older it seemed like the only thing he grew to learn was how to cry even louder. With that experience aside, babies are truly amazing. Love ’em or leave ’em, no one can’t deny there incredible ability to live and move forward. When you think about it, they a body part enclosed in liquid inside of another human being’s body for roughly nine months. They are then pushed or pulled out into a world that is unlike anything they probably could have imagined and then they have to become accustomed to this whole new dimension – the good, the bad and all of the in between. That’s pretty darn phenomenal if you ask me!  Oh, and if you’re reading this Lara (my sister), yes, let’s go!

Article in the East Bay Express about a great program in Berkeley, CA that connects kids to the foods they eat. The little lady on the cover is adorable too!
